Courses To Work With Children

Our comprehensive, one-day training course covers law, policy and processes affecting migrant and asylum-seeking children and young people, focusing on unaccompanied children who are looked after and care leavers.Participants gain an understanding of these children’s particular needs and vulnerabilities, gaining a practical understanding of how to support them across different areas: the asylum and immigration system, trafficking, age assessment, and care and support including transition at 18 and 21.

This course is a service-learning course with a required component of a minimum of twenty hours of volunteer work in an identified social service agency in the child welfare system.

This course explores current models of case management.

These areas will be examined utilizing among others empowerment, strengths, and multicultural perspectives.

This course provides a broad overview of computer software applications and Internet and World Wide Web, with an emphasis on their utilization in the social work profession.

EU law is notoriously complex, but this course is aimed at non-legal professionals and will focus on practical steps that may be taken to resolve uncertainty for these looked-after children and young people.

Training delegates will be given a free copy of Co-delivered with the Project for the Registration of Children as British Citizens (PRCBC), this training session provides an introduction for non-legal professionals to registering children as British citizens, including identifying children who might be eligible, how the process works, and where to go for further advice and assistance.

Co-delivered with Doctors of the World, this half-day training course aims to help medical practitioners and those working with migrant children, young people and families to understand the impact that immigration status can have on access to healthcare in England.

This course offers both an overview of the legal framework in which medical practitioners are expected to operate and practical guidance on how to help people to exercise their rights.

This course focuses on the increasing number of complex and painful personal, couple, family, and community crisis situations encountered by social workers in the course of service delivery.

This is a required course to fulfill requirements for the Certificate in Case Management. This is an elective course that will explore the complex components of grief and loss throughout the life span from an ecological and strength based theoretical perspective.
