Full-time for undergraduate students is 12 credits and for graduate students is 8.5 credits.

For less than 8.5 credits, graduate students must petition for full-time status through the Graduate Studies Office.

The competition is designed to encourage high levels of scholarship among BYU students and promote understanding and appreciation of BYU’s mission and legacy and the challenges of its great founders.

This year offers a special twist as BYU celebrates Cosmo during Homecoming. Not only has Cosmo entertained the BYU community for more than 65 years, but he has become a tradition and an enduring symbol of the BYU true blue spirit. This is about the length that BYU Magazine will allow for publishing.

These awards include a sizable advance — ,000 in previous years — as well as publication with Graywolf.

Hosted by the prestigious Iowa Review, the Jeff Sharlet Memorial Award is offered to U. military veterans and active-duty members writing in any genre about any subject.
